Barbecued Meatballs

Breaded meatballs baked in tangy homemade barbecue sauce. Recipe is simple and quick, double or triples easily for serving crowds.
Ingredients -
Meatballs:
1 cup Breadcrumbs
1/2 cup Whole Milk
1 pound Lean Ground Beef
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Fresh Ground Pepper

Sauce:
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 tablespoon Vinegar
3 tablespoons Brown Sugar
1 1/2 cup Ketchup
1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup chopped Onion
 
Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs, milk, ground beef, salt and pepper.

3. Shape into small, equal sized meatballs.

4. Place the meatballs on a non-stick baking dish or in a large casserole.

5. Combine Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and onion.

6. Pour over meatballs.

7. Bake 1 hour.

 
Variations and Recipe Ideas:
Serve with additional barbecue sauce.

Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs should be large in size, not finely processed. Homemade would be best. Leave 2 slices of white bread on kitchen counter over night. Turn bread slices once or twice. Once dried out, crumble using hands.

Homemade Barbecue Sauce
Combine 2 cups cider vinegar, 2/3 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon Tabasco, 1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper in a small sauce pan. Cook over medium heat 30 minutes.
